John G. Cormier, PhD Founder and Chief Executive Officer John earned his PhD in Physics from the University of Toronto in 2002. His areas of expertise include infrared lasers and high-performance spectroscopic instrumentation. John has been the recipient of several academic awards and scholarships. Following completion of his graduate work, he was awarded the prestigious National Research Council Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD. John has academic, governmental, and industrial work experience, and is the author of several scientific publications. He has also accepted invitations to speak at scientific conferences and academic departments in Canada, the United States, and overseas. John founded Picomole Instruments in April 2005, and is the inventor of the company’s groundbreaking gas analysis technology. His achievements at Picomole have led to several awards including: Grand Prize Winner of the VenturePrize business plan competition, Top 10 Canadian Angel Capital Company, and BioAlberta Emerging Company of the Year. In 2009, John was named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Albertans. As Picomole’s founder and CEO, he has done many interviews for newspapers, magazines, television and radio. |

John H.C. Pinsent, CA Chief Financial Officer In 2004, Mr. Pinsent became a founding Senior Associate with St. Arnaud, Pinsent and Associates (SA&P) following a distinguished ten-year career with Ernst and Young LLP. Mr. Pinsent was the recipient of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta Early Achievement Award for 2001, the ICAA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006, and the 2002 Economic Development Edmonton Ambassador Award for his formation work on the Greater Edmonton Competitiveness Strategy and Deal Generator - Edmonton’s Angel investment network. |

Thomas Facklam, PhD Independent Director Tom Facklam has over 25 years’ experience in the product development, technology commercialization, manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics and business development. Tom is a former VP Life Sciences at the Alberta Research Council, VP of Technical Operations and Development at Biomira and CEO of IFASA [Institute for Food and Agricultural Science of Alberta]. He has spent several years at BioEnterprise, based in Cleveland, Ohio, which is an organization that assists early stage biotech and medical device firms. Since 2002, BioEnterprise has created 80 new companies, attracted more than $860 million of new funding to these companies, and concluded over 300 tech transfer deals. As a result of this activity Cleveland has become the US's "new healthcare innovation destination". Tom is formerly the VP Research and Development at DSM Biologics. |

Rodney Ouellette, MD, PhD Dr. Ouellette is currently the President and Scientific Director of the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute. After completing his bachelors and masters degrees in biochemistry from Université de Moncton, Dr. Ouellette received both his MD and PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Université Laval in 1996. He then completed his residency in Family Medicine from Université de Sherbrooke in 1998. Currently, he is associate professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Sherbrooke, adjunct professor of biochemistry at Université de Moncton and adjunct professor of biology at the University of New Brunswick. As founding Scientific Director of the Institute, Dr. Ouellette has assembled a team of research scientists and staff that are working to answer unresolved questions relating to cancer. Using a multi-faceted approach and cutting edge technologies, the team is focused on translating biological discovery into clinical application and have active projects in breast, prostate and colon cancer as well as B-cell lymphoma. He has published over 30 research manuscripts and 100 research communications as well as 2 patent applications. He has supervised over 25 undergraduate and graduate students and given many scientific lectures. Dr. Ouellette has been active on numerous advisory boards and committees including the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Science Advisory Board of Health Canada. Presently, he is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Populomix Cancer Research Institute, a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cancer Society - NB division, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute. |
