Picomole Internship Leads to Exciting Career Opportunity

June 29th, 2021 -

Sam Fisher first met our CEO, Stephen Graham, during his undergraduate degree as part of a course that collaborated with local science-based companies. He and a group of students worked for an entire semester on strategic positioning for Picomole. Later that year, Sam joined Picomole as a summer intern and has been with us ever since.

In 2020, Sam graduated from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours in Chemistry) and began a Master of Science degree in chemistry at Dalhousie University. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sam has postponed his graduate studies and agreed to join our team as a full-time employee. During his time with us Sam has helped to compose an in-depth business plan, assisted with an FTO search and written several internal whitepapers. He is proud of all the work he has contributed to Picomole, as it has played a critical role in generating investments and helping our company grow.

Sam credits his time at Picomole as being a formative experience, helping him to understand that a career path in academia was not exactly what he wanted. Through his work with Picomole, Sam has discovered a passion for business and is considering studying management or law following the completion of his MSc.

“Having the chance to work with an amazing start-up company like Picomole, especially so early in my education, pivoted where I saw my life going. It really opened my eyes to career prospects within industry that I never would have been exposed to in academia.”

Outside of the office Sam does a lot of volunteering in his community, including science outreach and fundraising at the middle and high school level. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and skiing. Sam is an avid foodie, having previously trained and worked as a chef before eventually returning to school.

Picomole is fortunate to provide full-time employment for new graduates and individuals looking to start a career in our field. We are interested in those who possess a variety of specialties and skills that will help us improve the business development efforts within our organization.
