Picomole Inc. is an innovative medical technology company based in Moncton, New Brunswick. With its patented breath analysis technology, its team of professionals is developing a breath test for lung cancer screening and researching additional non-invasive diagnostic tests.

Position Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Moncton, New Brunswick
Term: Permanent; Full-Time
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday)

Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, and developing mechanical systems for breath analysis products; as well as performing duties related to the evaluation, installation, operation, and maintenance of the systems.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution

  • 3+ years relevant work experience in design and production environment

  • 3+ years of high-level CAD experience

  • Prototyping and machining experience an asset

  • CAM experience an asset

  • Experience with medical device product development is an asset

  • Experience with quality management systems and standards (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, IEC 62304) is an asset

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develops and evaluates mechanical, electromechanical, and thermofluidic systems to support product development

  • Verifies and validates system and product capabilities.

  • Develops and streamlines manufacturing processes to support product development and manufacturing.

  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Estimates budgets and time scopes for projects.

  • Supervises technicians, technologists and other engineers and reviews and approves designs, calculations, and cost estimates.

  • Develops and maintains work instructions and other documents required by the quality management system.

  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.

  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and thermofluidic systems

  • Ability to work independently in a hands-on environment

  • Ability to handle competing deadlines across multiple projects in a dynamic environment

  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Solid decision-making skills

  • Must work precisely according to procedures, rules and regulations
